The professional stunt-food-makers at Philadelphia's PYT — the masterminds behind the spaghetti-bun burger, deep-fried Twinkie burger, and most recently, the deep-fried Ellio's pizza burger — are planning a major national expansion. According to Zagat, PYT owner Tommy Up has inked a deal with consulting firm Fransmart (which drove nationwide expansions for Five Guys and Qdoba Mexican Grill), with plans to open PYT locations in New York City and Washington, DC.
Specific locations in both cities have not been set yet, but Fransmart founder Dan Rowe tells Philly.com that he's already fielded "two dozen notes from people interested in buying in." After an initial expansion to NYC and DC, PYT plans more locations in its home city of Philadelphia, then could tackle Boston next. In addition to its headline-making stunt burgers, the full-service restaurant offers regular burgers, doughnut-bun burgers, sandwiches, and a full lineup of adult milkshakes.
