The Times talks with Allen Tran, the head chef for the United States ski teams at the Olympics in Sochi, Russa. Sourcing ingredients is difficult. Said Train: "It's an international competition not just for the slopes but for groceries." But some ingredients have to be shipped in like maple syrup and Sriracha (they brought 16 bottles). Also fun: "Because the water in the Sochi area is suspect, the Americans brought a water filtering system that they use to wash all the local ingredients they buy."
