GOOP-founder/kale worshiper/Martha Stewart nemesis Gwyneth Paltrow was apparently up for a job at Yahoo Food at some point in the past year. Buried in an article about Yahoo's CEO Marissa Meyer in this weekend's New York Times Magazine was this nugget:
Even though the actress Gwyneth Paltrow had created a best-selling cookbook and popular lifestyle blog, Mayer, who habitually asked deputies where they attended college, balked at hiring her as a contributing editor for Yahoo Food. According to one executive, Mayer disapproved of the fact that Paltrow did not graduate college.
In September, Yahoo Food announced they had hired Cherry Bombe founder Kerry Diamond as EIC. Diamond earned a B.A. in English at SUNY Plattsburgh before embarking upon a career roughly related to fashion and restaurants. Paltrow, meanwhile, studied anthropology at UC Santa Barbara before dropping out, as Gawker notes, "to win an Academy Award and make millions as an actress."
And for the record, Martha Stewart majored in art and art history at Barnard College, and has little use for Yahoo anyway as the head of her own multi-million dollar multi-media company.
