Michelin Announces 2015 Stars for Tokyo

The Michelin stars continue to come in: The 2015 Michelin Guide to Tokyo has been announced. Unlike previous guides, which also included restaurants from Yokohama and Shonan, the 2015 edition only features restaurants from Tokyo.

There are many new additions to the guide this year including one new three-star restaurant, Makimura. The guide also features five new two-star restaurants and 19 one-star restaurants including Les ChanterellesMasuda, and chef Jean-Georges Vongerichten's eponymous restaurant. There are also 213 new Bib Gourmands.

According to a press release, it has been a big year for "washoku" or traditional Japanese cuisine. The 2015 guide features many places that specialize in 22 categories of "washoku" including tempura, yakitori, and udon.

In total, the 2015 Michelin Guide to Tokyo has 12 three-star restaurants, 53 two-star restaurants, 161 one-star restaurants, and 325 Bib Gourmands. The guide will be available for purchase December 5. See the press release below:
