Bravo's new series Best New Restaurant will premiere January 21. As first reported in September, the show will follow host/judge/executive producer Tom Colicchio as he dines at 16 restaurants across four cities to decide which one is, well, the best new restaurant in the country. According to a press release, BlackboardEats.com CEO Maggie Nemser and ‘Wichcraft co-founder Jeffrey Zurofsky will help Colicchio decide which restaurant will be crowned the winner.
Together the trio will "evaluate each restaurant on not only the dishes that are served, but also everything from décor to hospitality to overall concept." The winning restaurant will receive $100,000, a feature in Bon Appetit (the show's partner), and a spot at the Vegas Uncork'd food festival.
The participating restaurants on the show — which is also executive produced by shouty chef Gordon Ramsay — are located in New York City, Los Angeles, Austin, and Miami. Featured restaurants include The Church Key, The Federal, Little Sparrow, and Morgan's Barbecue.
The show will also include a series of competitions: In the first round of the show, each restaurant will be subjected to a "pressure test" where 30 hungry diners will "descend on the restaurants without notice" to see how the restaurant can handle the stress. The show will also feature undercover diners and a pop-up restaurant competition. Check out a preview of the show below:
