Burger King Picks PayPal as its Mobile Payment Purveyor

The fastest way to pay for that Whopper is with your phone.

Burger King is the latest chain to announce that it will offer mobile payments this year. With McDonald's firmly fixed up with ApplePaytoday PayPal confirmed it would be offering Burger King customers the option to pay for a Whooper using their mobile phone.

According to a release, Burger King customers in the U.S. will soon be able to pay for meals using PayPal through a collaboration with Tillster Inc. Similar to Taco Bell's latest app release, PayPal and Tillster power the software behind Burger King's new app, which will allow customers to pay for their meals at registers using their phones.

The Burger King product does not support ordering ahead or customized orders. It is certainly far less savvy than Starbucks' beefed up app. And, unlike other apps, the PayPal module will require users to enter a four digit pin in order to pay for their meals. The app will also feature a geo-locator, menu, calorie, and nutritional information. Burger King's new app launches later this year for iOS and Android systems at locations nationwide.
