Here's a video of pastry wizard Dominique Ansel and 14-year-old Alexander Weiss — the winner of Masterchef Junior — making the Cronut recipe from Ansel's new cookbook Dominique Ansel: The Secret Recipes. The clip features stylized shots of the two tackling various parts of the challenging recipe, from cutting blocks of butter for the laminated dough to glazing the finished Cronuts.
Although he admits that making the famed pastries "are a lot harder than they look," unlike other attempts, Weiss' Cronuts look quite good. Then again Weiss could make "macarons in less than an hour when he was 12," and had help from Ansel himself.
