The World's First Vegan Butcher Shop Is Set to Open in Minneapolis

New, 7 comments

Brother-sister team announce the first-ever meatless meat shop.

Turkeys everywhere finally have a reason to be thankful this Thanksgiving, as Aubry and Kale Walch plan to open the first-ever vegan meat market. Grub Street announced the news earlier today after the duo reached their $50,000 Kickstarter goal. The new shop, slated to open its animal-friendly doors in April, will be a brick-and-mortar expansion of their existing stand at the Minneapolis Farmers' Market. The siblings promise that the storefront will be just like a regular butcher, selling meatless versions of ribs, bologna, pepperoni, jerky, and Italian sausage, plus cheeses, marinades, and breads. The Walches are seeking an additional $10,000 to buy the necessary equipment to ship nationwide, so you too can enjoy a Tofurkey by next Thanksgiving. No opening date for the brick-and-mortar butcher shop has been set yet.
