Vancouver chef David Hawksworth, one of British Columbia's most high-profile chefs, has confirmed he'll open a long-awaited second restaurant: The Vancouver Sun reports Hawksworth will open a "high-end" but "more relaxed" restaurant inside the still-under-construction MNP Tower in downtown Vancouver. According to Scout Magazine, the as-yet-unnamed restaurant will feature 120 seats in an "approachable, laid-back atmosphere," with Hawksworth promising a "playful" menu using local and seasonal ingredients. Design firm Munge Leunge, which was nominated for a James Beard Award for the design of Hawksworth in 2014, will also create the new restaurant.
Hawksworth's eponymous restaurant opened in downtown Vancouver in 2011, and the chef has long hinted that a second project was upcoming. The MNP restaurant is planning a spring 2015 opening; updates as they become available.
