S.Pellegrino's Young Chef Search 2015; Chicago Chefs Team for Fundraiser

CALL FOR NOMINATIONS— S.Pellegrino, the bottled water-makers who also happen to be the keepers of the World's 50 Best Restaurants list, have announced an open nomination call for its "Young Chef 2015" competition, scheduled for various dates in February 2015. The competition will name finalists in 20 regions (applications available here), who will compete against each other in "regional competitions" next year. The 20 regional winners move onto the "global challenge," which will take place at 2015's Expo Milano in June. CHICAGO— Chicago chefs Paul Kahan (avec, Blackbird), Jason Hammel (Nightwood), and Matthias Merges (A10, Yusho) are among those lending their skills at an event benefiting Pilot Light, a local non-profit that brings food education to Chicago school children. The second-annual "Feed Your Mind" event is scheduled for Friday, December 5, featuring tastings, cocktails by Billy Sunday and the Violet Hour, and former White House chef Sam Kass on-hand as the guest of honor.
