NEW YORK CITY— Earlier this month, news broke that Manhattan's Cafe Edison was being forced out by its landlords after 34 years in business. Now, many of its fans — including 7,600 petition signers and New York State Senator Brad Hoylman — are lobbying its landlords to consider renewing the restaurant's lease. According to Eater NY, Manhattan Borough President Gale Brewer has also advocated on Cafe Edison's behalf, arguing in an open letter that "it would be a disgrace to lose this New York institution." VARIOUS LOCATIONS— As per inexplicable tradition, DIY furniture purveyor IKEA is holding a "traditional Swedish holiday feast" at all its stores — this year, it'll take place on Friday, December 12. The "Julbord" meal promises several courses served family-style, including gravlax, "assorted varieties of herring," and yes, meatballs. Tickets are $15 and are available for pre-purchase at IKEA stores.
