Pizza Hut Hopes Putting Sriracha On Everything Will Make it Cool Again

Pizza Hut is trying very hard to sit at the cool kids table. According to a press release, the chain/recent victim of an email scam is all but reinventing itself by overhauling its logo, boxes, website, and uniforms — and by adding an insane number of pizza options to its menu. Pizza Hut is hopping on the customization trend: Customers can now pick between 10 new crust flavors with cutesy names like "Ginger Boom Boom" and "Get Curried Away," six sauces, five new toppings — including meatballs and cherry peppers — and four fancy schmancy drizzles, including balsamic and barbecue.

The 56-year-old company appears to have just discovered Sriracha: On the new menu, find a honey Sriracha pizza crust, a honey Sriracha pizza sauce, and a trendy hot honey-like Sriracha drizzle. The Sriracha-fication of the menu doesn't stop there. One of the 11 new speciality pizzas is the "Sweet Sriracha Dynamite," which features "Honey Sriracha sauce topped with grilled chicken, sliced jalapeño peppers, sweet pineapple and Peruvian cherry peppers," all on a honey Sriracha crust with a honey Sriracha drizzle. Surprisingly, it does not feature Sriracha-infused cheese.

Other new speciality pizzas include one with the unfortunate and trademarked moniker of "Cock-A-Doodle Bacon" which combines, well, chicken and bacon, and the "Old-Fashioned Meatbrawl" which comes topped with meatballs. The chain is also unleashing the "Pretzel Piggy" which has a pretzel crust — similar to Little Caesar's — as well as bacon and a drizzle of balsamic. Hilariously, Pizza Hut is also expanding its "health conscious" Skinny Slice line with options like the cheekily-named "Skinny Beach" which features toppings more reminiscent of the slang term than an actual beach.
