Here's the official trailer for Soul of a Banquet, the upcoming documentary about celebrated chef Cecilia Chiang, who is behind the legendary Chinese restaurant The Mandarin in San Francisco.
Many consider Chiang to be the "matriarch of authentic Chinese cuisine in America. Chiang counts culinary legends including Alice Waters, James Beard, and Julia Child among her students. In between close-up shots of vibrant food porn, prominent food world folk like Waters and writer Ruth Reichl recount Chiang's importance: "Cecilia is the history of China in the last 100 years." The film hits select theaters and will be available for digital download on October 21.
