Watch a Trailer for Sean Brock's Cookbook, Heritage

In which Brock frolics through the fields.

Here's a contemplative trailer for Charleston chef Sean Brock's just-released cookbook, Heritage. In the clip, Brock talks about his childhood food memories in the Appalachian Mountains, "a place where food was everything," he says. As Brock walks through a garden, he grabs some lettuce and reveals why he often derives inspiration from raw ingredients: "A lot of my lunches as a kid were just doing exactly what I'm doing now... just walking through a garden and eating."

Brock also points out how Southern cuisine has several different definitions, but that "the most important thing is that it's extremely personal." Go, watch the book trailer above.
