The golden arches aren't looking so shiny anymore and McDonald's is getting McDesperate: The Wall Street Journal writes that the burger chain plans to introduce a new slogan, "Lovin' Beats Hatin'." It is part of a new advertising campaign which "which aims to spread happiness in the face of Internet hate." The new slogan will not replace the chain's famed catchphrase "I'm Lovin' It," but it will apparently give the company "broader marketing heft around the world." The new campaign is expected to roll out on January 1 and it will include a 60-second spot during the Super Bowl.
McDonald's is having a rough year and the new slogan is an attempt to boost sales which fell nearly 4.1% in September. To make matters worse, McDonald's recently reported "one of its worst quarterly profit declines in years."
In an effort to stop declining sales, McDonald's recently launched another advertising campaign called "Our Food. Your Questions." It's an effort meant to convince customers that the chain serves real food. Can McDonald's prove — once and for all — that its burgers are not made from pink slime?
