Former Yankee Hideki Matsui Left a $700 Tip at Tavern on the Green

He's apparently the only one that likes the service at the struggling Central Park restaurant.

Hideki Matsui, who used to hit for the New York Yankees, left a $700 tip on a $1,700 bill at New York City's Tavern on the Green this weekend. According to the New York Post, Matsui is one generous tipper.

He left over 40 percent for his table of 12. The total bill included a bottle of Laphroaig single malt whisky and wine for the table.

Perhaps the much maligned restaurant has straightened up its act? Or maybe former ball players aren't among the city's toughest restaurant critics.
