Planning on knocking back a bottle of whiskey this weekend? According to a new (and not super scientific) list from Gizmodo, your best bet is to head to Albuquerque, New Mexico, where you can purchase a fifth (750ml) of Jack Daniel's (JD) for $15.99. Arizona and Florida are also good bets for people seeking out whiskey on the cheap: A fifth of JD goes for around $16.99 and $17.99, respectively.
Overall, prices in most states falls in the $20-29 range, but in three states — Alabama, West Virginia, and Alaska — you will shell out $30 or more for a bottle. A fifth of JD in Alaska is $35, which is more than twice the price of a fifth in New Mexico. Then again, compared to a bottle of Pappy Van Winkle — the cult whiskey that can sell for hundreds of dollars — these are all quite cheap, no matter where you buy it.
