An Unexpected Marc Vetri Menu; World's 50 Best Announces 2015 Date

Plus, an upcoming Canadian pop-up will literally be a restaurant on ice.

PHILADELPHIA— Chef Marc Vetri's hotly anticipated Philadelphia restaurant Lo Spiedo is scheduled to debut Monday, October 27, and Eater Philly has a look at what it's calling a "surprising" menu from the James Beard Award-winning chef. In lieu of the expected pasta dishes and other Italian touches, Lo Spiedo will offer playful dishes like "New England-style octopus rolls," barbecue carrots with ranch, and popcorn (served with parimigano butter.) Says Eater Philly: "This overall concept is just a touch weirder than we thought — weirder, and more fun." Check out the entire menu here. [EPHI]

LONDON— It's still more than seven months away, but S.Pellegrino is already very very excited about the upcoming World's 50 Best Restaurants 2015 ceremony: It announced today the list will drop in June, instead of its usual time in April. The ceremony is slated for London's Guildhall on June 1, 2015. [BigHospitality]

WINNEPEG— The Winnepeg winter festival has announced the 2015 architect for its now-annual tradition of holding an outdoor pop-up restaurantDezeen Magazine reports British design firm OS31 will build the upcoming edition of RAW:almond restaurant. As in years past, the restaurant will pop-up on top of a frozen river and plans to debut January 22, 2015. [Dezeen]
