New Orleans' Tiki Tolteca Wins Food & Wine's People's Choice for Best New Bar

Plus, Food & Wine names its Best New Mixologists for 2014

Hidden tiki haven, Tiki Tolteca in New Orleans' French Quarter, is this year's winner for People's Choice Best New Bar in the U.S., put out by Food & Wine magazine. In a release, the magazine confirms that among five finalists, Tiki Tolteca won in the contest.

On September 17, Food & Wine kicked off the voting with a list of 100 nominees, divided into five regions across the U.S. Tiki Tolteca, which is inside Felipe's Taqueria, won out over runners up: Bar5 at Coqueta, San Francisco, CA (West/Southwest); Southern Efficiency, Washington, DC (Northeast); The Last Word, Ann Arbor, MI (Midwest); and Imperial Portland, OR (Northwest/Mountain).

Food & Wine also announced their picks for Best Mixologists in the country (2014). Winners include: Ryan Casey (McCrady's, Charleston, SC); Jacyara de Oliveira (Sportsman's Club, Chicago); Gui Jaroschy (The Broken Shaker, Miami Beach); Sara Justice (Holeman & Finch, Atlanta); Caitlin Laman (Trick Dog, San Francisco); Chris Lowder (The NoMad Bar, New York City); Jeremy Oertel (Donna, Brooklyn); Jason Patz (Williams & Graham, Denver); Alex Renshaw (Drumbar, Chicago); and Tyler Stevens (Teardrop Cocktail Lounge, Portland, OR).
