The spoils of Rincon Beach: sea radish, verbena, and coastal herbs.

Here's a video featuring acclaimed Los Angeles chef Ari Taymor taking a not-so-leisurely trip to the California coast. In the clip, filmed by Opening Ceremony, Taymor, his Alma co-owner Ashleigh Parsons, and forager Courtney Guerra search the picturesque coast for items that will eventually end up on the Alma menu. "Somehow, it always tastes to me like what it feels like to be there, by the ocean," says Taymor of the ingredients culled from the coast. "Every season has a different feel to it."

Taymor then takes the day's finds — including sea radish, verbena, and coastal herbs — back to the Alma kitchen to construct a simple dish with cod. "I like things that don't taste complicated or fussy," he says, "so I like it to just be really elemental." Go, watch how those foraged ingredients make the dish "pop."
