Wendy's is failing incredibly hard at its attempt to make BBQ America's national foodAccording to Businessweek, the chain launched a cutesy White House petition — which drops the terms "Merica!" and "edible democracy!" — in conjunction to its new barbecue pulled pork menu as a fun marketing "faux-cause."

The move sort of backfired: The chain needs 100,000 signatures by October 19 to even get a response from the Obama administration and they are currently at a grand total of 364. The only thing people care about less is making the second Friday in October National Haunted House Day (310 signatures).
