This past weekend on Last Week Tonight, host John Oliver takes up the case of the pumpkin spice latte. Without mentioning Starbucks, Oliver tries to understand why Americans love the PSL. "It's that special time of year where we voluntarily imbibe pumpkin spice lattes, the coffee that tastes like candle." Oliver goes on: "Pumpkin pie is the most seasonal food there is. It is only good from the moment Thanksgiving dinner ends until just after you have taken your first bite of it." And, though Oliver acknowledges that he looks forward to Fall every year, he "personally would rather drink a cable neck sweater latte."
