Her work focuses on dining trends and the people changing the industry — and scouting the next hot restaurant you need to try on Eater's annual Best New Restaurant list.

In celebration of the January 1 legalization of recreational marijuana in Colorado, a sushi mini-chain with locations in Denver and Boulder has introduced weed pairing menus to help customers answer an age-old question: "What kind of weed goes best with sushi?" Creativity Online reports that Hapa Sushi Grill & Sake Bar has launched an ad campaign designed by TDA Boulder around a new "pairing menu" which suggests three combinations: Pakalolo Shrimp with Pakistani Kush, Honey Miso Salmon with Sour OG, and Katsu Curry with Blue Dream.

Another ad points out that the restaurant has been "ergonomically designed to reduce paranoia" while a placard on the table informs customers that management reserves the right to serve customers who want to discuss "how cool their pets are," basically a conversation prompt for stoned guests. Hapa Sushi and TDA Boulder have a history of pro-weed print ads, having released an ad back in 2009 that encouraged smokers to satisfy their munchies with sushi. Having only been released this month, it's still too soon to say whether Hapa Sushi's weed pairing menu will inspire a trend in Colorado. Here's a look at the menu:
