Mexican food authority Diana Kennedy took the stage at this summer's MAD Symposium, and video from the presentation has finally hit the internet. The 90-year-old author and documentarian reflects on both the past ("I arrived in Mexico in 1957 with $500 and a half-promise of matrimony, and it was very dicey") and future, showing off her sustainable, once-scorpion-filled home ("because that's how I believe we should live").
Kennedy also proudly refers to herself as the "scourge of gastronomy," railing against sous vide and other ultimately wasteful food preparations: "Do you really need a chef in London to collapse your eggplant in two layers of aluminum foil and throw it away?" Go, watch:
