Dallas chef John Tesar revealed major expansion plans today: The acclaimed chef of Spoon Bar & Kitchen tells Eater Dallas that he is planning to open restaurants in Memphis, TN and North Carolina. These restaurants will be created under the umbrella of the newly formed John Tesar Restaurant Group, as first reported by the Dallas Morning News.
So what does Tesar have planned? Along with a new Dallas steakhouse called Knife, Tesar will be opening a Knife location at a Memphis hotel and another Spoon or seafood restaurant at a hotel and convention center on the North Carolina coast. These North Carolina and Memphis restaurant projects are separate from the massive Spoon expansion Tesar has planned with Chanticleer Holdings. Tesar is selling Spoon to that company (which also has partial ownership in Hooters and operates several international locations) but has confirmed he is staying on board and "not selling out." Tesar says he plans to open these two new restaurants with "hotel licensing deals" in the next one to two years.
