Behold a 'Local' Luxury Starbucks in Austin

Looks like Starbucks is trying to cultivate a more "local" brand identity: Eater Austin has photos of a new Starbucks in Austin's W Hotel, which a press rep says was "specifically designed with Austin in mind." To that end, the "luxury" Starbucks boasts a map of the world made out of "banned plastic bags," locally milled wood siding, music-inspired lighting fixtures, and a painting on reclaimed wood by a local artist.

The Austin Starbucks seems to be of a piece with the apothecary-inspired Starbucks that opened recently in New Orleans. Like the music and recycling-inspired Starbucks in Austin, the NOLA Starbucks also was designed to evoke a sense of place through decorations.
