The internet has granted a collective round of applause to an unknown "passenger" on China Eastern Airlines who was able to score almost a year's worth of free meals at China's Xi'an Airport. According to the Chinese newspaper Kwong Wah Yit Poh, the man booked a legitimate first-class ticket on the airline and arrived to the airport's VIP lounge, where he enjoyed a complimentary "pre-boarding" meal. He then would change his flight itinerary to another day, returning again and again — 300 times — for meals in the first-class lounge.
Once the airline began investigating the scam, the man cancelled his ticket entirely, which earned him a complete refund. As for what he ate, one blogger reports that the Xi'an lounge "has sufficient space for buffet food (Chinese only)" and that CEA offers "many options for hot and cold Chinese food and Western food."
