The Panera Bread chain has issued a formal apology after a Savannah, Georgia location asked a disabled child to remove her orthopedic shoes because their squeaking noise was "bothering" other customers. In a statement (which also promises that staff "will be receiving updated and ongoing customer relations training"), Panera apologized to the two-year-old girl and her mother, and are now planning a public fundraiser to help the family with their medical bills.
