Here's your feel good news for the day: Nashville's InterAsian Market & Deli, a grocery store that's known for its banh mi, recently posted the above note on Instagram. According to the post, the deli was robbed "11 or 12 years ago," and now the robber in question has returned the $300 s/he took along with a note of explanation. "I'm a drug addict," the note reads. "I must make amends to the people I have hurt in the past." InterAsian responded by writing, "All is forgiven and thank for your note. We don't care about the money. We are more inspired and touched by your act." Below, the full text of the note, and the deli's response.
According to the Nashville Scene, the note and the money were dropped off at the deli in an envelope simply marked "OWNER." Somboon Wu, son of the store's owner, says "I get cynical ... a lot. But this just slaps you in the face. There are good people out there, and they deserve a second chance."
InterAsian is a Nashville favorite for banh mi sandwiches. The house-made pate was praised by Catbird Seat's Erik Anderson in Food & Wine and they were named one of the city's best sandwiches by Nashville City Paper. See? Good things can happen to good sandwiches.

The note, all [sic]:
I am a drug addict. About 11 or 12 years ago I robber this store with a gun. I do not use drugs anymore and I feal I must make amends to the people I have hurt in the past. I cam in you're store around 9 or 10 o'clock in 2002 or 2003 and I got a 6 pack of beer and ask for cigaretts, when the register opened to give change I pulled out a gun and took about $300 from the register then drove away in a white car. I hope you will accept this money and find forgiveness. peace be with you — Anonymous
And InterAsian's response:
We were robbed about 11 or 12 years. Today, we surprisingly received this note from the robber and the stolen cash returned. This is truly inspirational and reminds us that there are plenty of good people in this world. To the anonymous person, we want to tell you all is forgiven and thank for your note. We don't care about the money. We are more inspired and touched by your act. We hope you find peace in life and prosperity. Best wishes!
