New, 3 comments

NEW YORK CITY— The legendary Parisian "flash mob" dinner party Diner en Blanc has announced the date for its 2013 New York City event: the all-white dinner will pop-up at an undisclosed location on September 18. As per usual, guests must pre-register to get access to the secret venue (revealed, for the uninitiated, on the day of the event itself). Last year's Diner en Blanc drew nearly 3,000 people to Lincoln Center; more information here. [EaterWire]

NEW YORK CITY— The annual New Yorker Festival is set for October 4-6 this year, and now, a round-up of all the food-related events: "Foodies Unite" will feature a luncheon and talk with Dave Arnold, Amanda Cohen, Ariane Daguin, and Sean Rembold, while "High Spirits" welcomes Scottish distillery Bruichladdich for a talk and whiskey tasting. David Chang will lead a workshop at Má Pêche focusing on fermented foods; and as per tradition, Calvin Trillin will lead a tour of Chinatown that urges guests to "come hungry." [EaterWire]

BOOK CLUB— Portland chef John Gorham will embark on a series of events to promote his upcoming cookbook Toro Bravo: Stories. Recipes. No Bull. According to co-author Liz Crain, Gorham's seven-city itinerary includes stops at NYC's James Beard House, Portland's own Wordstock festival, and SF's Contigo. [FLG]
