ABC Family Greenlights Young & Hungry, a Comedy About a 'Feisty' Chef/Blogger

Hillary Dixler Canavan is Eater's restaurant editor and the author of the publication's debut book, Eater: 100 Essential Restaurant Recipes From the Authority on Where to Eat and Why It Matters (Abrams, September 2023). Her work focuses on dining trends and the people changing the industry — and scouting the next hot restaurant you need to try on Eater's annual Best New Restaurant list.

ABC Family is getting into the food tv game now: The network announced that they are producing a pilot for a new multi-camera comedy called Young & Hungry. The show focuses on "Nick, a well-off young tech entrepreneur" and Gabi "a feisty young food blogger" who Nick hires to be his personal chef. Exciting. Deadline reports that former Hannah Montana cast member Emily Osment has been cast as Gabi, the "blunt and klutzy" chef/blogger with "an outrageous sense of style." High School Musical's Ashley Tisdale is on board as an executive producer. It all sounds a bit like Dog with a Blog meets Eat, Drink, Love meets...Disney Channel?
