Fifty Shades of Grey Wine Exists

Photo: Fifty Shades of Grey Wines

Here now for your drinking pleasure, Fifty Shades of Grey wines from none other than erotic novelist E L James. According to the website, the wines were inspired by "the important role" wine plays in Fifty Shades of Grey and are called "a natural extension" of the series. The small collection features a red and a white wine from California. The red is a 2009 Petite Sirah and Syrah blend called Red Satin with "flavors of black cherry, cocoa powder, creamy caramel and vanilla, leather and clove spice." The white is a 2012 blend of Gewürztraminer and Sauvignon Blanc called White Silk that has "?avors of crisp grapefruit, mineral and lush pear with a faint hint of butterscotch." Bottles are $17.99 each and the labels say: "You. Are. Mine."

Not sure what scene from the books to pair with which wine? Check out James' handy wine guide, which breaks down the various mentions of wine in the trilogy. Presumably the wines also pair well with dishes prepared from the Fifty Shades of Bacon and Fifty Shades of Chicken unofficial parody cookbooks.
