Wisconsin's SURG Restaurant Group has renamed a Brookfield restaurant once named for Major League Baseball player Ryan Braun: 8-Twelve MVP Bar & Grill (the "8" refers to Braun's Milwaukee Brewers' number, the "twelve" to Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers) is now known as Hom Wood Fired Grill. Earlier this month, SURG announced plans to drop Braun after he was suspended by the league for using performance-enhancing drugs. Although that Sept. 5 announcement claimed that Rodgers remained a partner in the project, the Milwaukee Business Journal notes that "the new restaurant website does not mention Rodgers," and the Milwaukee Business Times ominously writes "no further information about Rodgers' involvement with the restaurant group was available at this time."
Hom — pronounced "home" — will undergo a complete renovation and menu revamp, with a new focus on "simple farm-to-table cuisine." (Previously, 8-Twelve served dishes like mac-and-cheese risotto and baby-back ribs.) The revamped restaurant will re-open October 7.
