Here's a sharp video via Funny or Die that remakes the intense Chipotle anti-industrial farming ad (which is now up to some 5.7 million views on YouTube). Called "Honest Scarecrow," the video overlays a new soundtrack and plenty of text over the original computer-animated story of a scarecrow who gives up industrial farming and starts making burritos. A woman sings: "Come with us and you'll be in a world of pure imagination/ With an ad made for you by a giant corporation."
The remake points out some of the disconnects between the work of the scarecrow and the work of Chipotle (like the use of meat in Chipotle's cooking). "We'll begin, drop you in/ To a great, high budget animation/ What you'll see will be pure/ Manipulation" the singer sings as a chicken is injected with green goo. In regard to the main scarecrow character, the singer implores viewers to "Look at that sad face/ And FEEL it." The remake also pokes fun at Chipotle's effort to get viewers to "engage" with the brand and follow them on Twitter. Go, watch:
