Remember the fake Subway September 11 deal run in satirical, fake newspaper The Onion? An actual, real-life, sandwich-making Subway honored the promotion. As a prank, YouTuber Travis Northup convinced his friend that the two footlong subs for $9.11 "Subtember 11" deal was real, and took him to a Subway in San Francisco's Financial District. Northup posted the fake coupon they used, a receipt, and a video of the clerk accepting the coupon. (The receipt also shows the sale took place at Subway #25578, which points to the San Francisco location.) For what it's worth, Subway's corporate Twitter account criticized the ad last week, writing "Like everyone, we are deeply offended by the fake story and ad created by The Onion."
