Counter Culture's Coffee Series; Dirt Candy in SF

DURHAM AND BEYOND— North Carolina's celebrated Counter Culture Coffee has announced a traveling coffee tour featuring 2013 World Brewers Cup Champion Erin McCarthy leading a series of free coffee talks and tastings. McCarthy will visit Counter Culture "training centers" in Atlanta, Chicago, Washington, DC, Philadelphia, Boston, and New York starting on October 5. NEW YORK CITY— The Mario Batali Foundation's second-annual "Honors Dinner" is set for Batali's NYC restaurant Del Posto on Sunday, October 6, and world-saving chef Jamie Oliver has been named this year's honoree. The two chefs aren't the only celebrity attendees: Jimmy Fallon will act as host, and Patti Smith, Wilco, and The New Yorker's David Remnick will all perform.
