NYC Food Film Festival; SF's Tamale Lady on Wheels

NEW YORK CITY— The seventh-annual NYC Food Film Festival is set for October 23 to 27, and tickets are now on sale for the six separate events, which will cumulatively screen 35 food-related films. As previously announced, the lineup includes Beer Braised Ox Cheek and Mixed Berries, Three Ways, two experimental films featuring Stockholm chef Mathias Dahlgren. Tickets are available here. SAN FRANCISCOVirginia Ramos, perhaps better known to Mission visitors as the "Tamale Lady," will partner with driver-app Uber in a free-tamale distribution promo tomorrow (Friday) night. Meanwhile, Eater SF reports that Ramos has raised $10,000 via Indiegogo for an upcoming commercial kitchen. The campaign, with an ultimate goal of $50k, runs through October 26. [Eater SF]

NEW YORK CITY— Cronut king Dominique Ansel's latest creation — the magic souffle — confounds and delights the hosts of daytime gabfest The Chew.
