Hillary Dixler Canavan is Eater's restaurant editor and the author of the publication's debut book, Eater: 100 Essential Restaurant Recipes From the Authority on Where to Eat and Why It Matters (Abrams, September 2023). Her work focuses on dining trends and the people changing the industry — and scouting the next hot restaurant you need to try on Eater's annual Best New Restaurant list.

Laura O'Neill, Ben Van Leeuwen, and Pete Van Leeuwen of Van Leeuwen Artisan Ice Cream in New York City have landed a cookbook deal with Ecco. Their book will be called The Van Leeuwen Artisan Ice Cream Book, and Olga Massov is on board to help write. The cookbook will feature "a collection of classic recipes for every palate and season, with a focus on whole, natural ingredients, featuring the perfect technique to produce smooth, luxurious ice cream every time with a remarkable clarity of flavor." This will be the first cookbook from the founders of the popular ice cream company, which has food trucks and brick and mortar shops.
