Yelp CEO Jeremy Stoppelman goes on an ice-cream date with Businessweek to chat about the crowd-sourced site's very accidental origins. According to Stoppelman, the original Yelp model aimed to re-create the Yellow Pages online: "The question at the time was, 'How do you capture that word-of mouth? What's the mechanism?' People aren't just going to write reviews for fun, that's crazy. We literally thought, 'That's a terrible idea.'" But he was wrong, and as a result, is now a millionaire.
