Daniel Patterson's long-stewing "casual spot" on San Francisco's Market Street has a name: Inside Scoop SF reports that the 65-seat restaurant will be called Alta CA, a reference to both the territory and the 19th-century SF newspaper that once counted Mark Twain as an employee. As Patterson tells ISSF, "it refers to something historic within San Francisco. And then obviously within our group, it carries on some literary connection."
The project is Patterson's fifth in the Bay Area (his empire includes SF's Michelin-starred Coi and Oakland's Plum, Plum Bar, and Haven). Alta is shooting for a fall opening. Patterson's anticipated Coi cookbook will also drop this fall, in October.
