Restaurant Deters Dumpster-Stealing Bear With Nails

New, 6 comments

How do you prevent a bear from stealing your restaurant's dumpsters? If you're Colorado Springs restaurant Edelweiss, you surround your dumpsters with a bed of nails. And it appears to have worked: surveillance cameras show the bear returned to the scene of its dumpster diving crime only to get irritated by the spikes before leaving without a trashy supper. Last week, the bear stole dumpsters from the restaurant on two separate occasions. According to local news CBS Denver, the alternative would be to "put the bear down," so it's a good thing this worked. Watch the surveillance tapes below.
