Spain's El Celler de Can Roca, considered the best restaurant in the world by the 2013 edition of World's 50 Best, has its own gelato shop, Rocambolesc, where El Celler pastry chef Jordi Roca often experiments with flavors and textures. Proof positive: this "updated" version of the delightfully named OxymoronMaker, which seals a scoop of ice cream in between brioche, warming the creation into a little gelato-filled hand pie.
Andreu Carulla Studio, the designers behind the machine, have created other products for El Celler de Can Roca — including a bicycle that transports ingredients from the restaurant to the downtown ice cream shop — and now, have released this stop-motion video of how the device (and the ice cream pies) get made.
