Looks like the long-stewing rumors are true: Eater Vegas reports that perky TV food personality Giada De Laurentiis will open her first-ever restaurant inside the Gansevoort Las Vegas. Local forum VegasTripping first noticed the accidental news leak on the Gansevoort website — which reveals the restaurant will simply be called Giada's — but Eater Vegas brings additional intel:
The 12,863-square-foot restaurant will be located on the second floor featuring Strip views. Originally, the restaurant was slated to take up 27,836 square feet. Current plans only call for one restaurant at the Gansevoort.
De Laurentiis, who spent some time in the kitchen at Wolfgang Puck's Spago before landing her first Food Network show in 2003, has yet to open her own restaurant. (Her food empire, however, does include several cookbooks, Cooking Channel specials, a line of Target cooking supplies, and maybe a talk show with Bobby Flay.) No official confirmation from the Gansevoort or De Laurentiis yet, but looks like Giada's is shooting for an "early 2014" opening. Developing.
