Eater patron saint, cookbook author, and fake vegan Gwyneth Paltrow attended Authors Night at the East Hampton Library a couple of days ago. Author Christina Oxenberg had the misfortune of being alphabetically seated next to Paltrow and she documented it her blog (cache here). Quote: "[S]uddenly I knew what needed doing. I made a plate of miniature sloppy hamburgers, stinky steak sandwiches, and the like... And there I sat with my meat products, wafting the excellent smells toward my sleek vegan neighbor." Tweeted author Jay McInerney: "Author's night at East Hampton Library highjacked by movie stars with ghost- written cookbooks." [WD]
