Here's an Eater Inside look at Girasol, former cheftestapant CJ Jacobson's new Gulla Jonsdottir-designed Studio City, CA shrine to California cuisine. The name translates to "sunflower" in Spanish, which explains the seemingly petal-inspired design stretching across the ceiling and onto the walls. Additionally there are real, actual sunflowers at the hostess stand. The menu (pdf) features more familiar flavors than not, with dishes like braised lamb, roasted chicken, and a tuna crudo made with satsuma and verbena. It officially opened July 1. For now, there's only a selection of beer and California wines to choose from, but cocktails and a weekend brunch will be offered later on in the year.
