Here's a sneak peek of Toro Bravo: Stories. Recipes. No Bull. by chef John Gorham and co-author Liz Crain. The book tells the story of Portland, Oregon's Spanish-influenced restaurant Toro Bravo: its recipes, its history, its quirks and tattoos, its "makeout room" ("If you get caught making out in the makeout room, we'll buy your cocktail"), its charcuterie and cocktails and more. This is a big year for Portland cookbooks, with books from Gorham, Pok Pok's Andy Ricker, and Le Pigeon's Gabriel Rucker all on the way. Toro Bravo is out from McSweeney's October 15 (pre-order on Amazon); take a look inside below.
