The one and only Ferran Adrià appeared on the season finale of MasterChef España to judge the final showdown and present the winner with a trophy. Having big name chefs on MasterChef is not uncommon; here in the US they've had the trio of Guy Savoy, Alain Ducasse, and Daniel Boulud judge an episode. But this is Spain and it's Ferran Adrià, so there were many tears from the already-axed contestants watching from the sidelines. After dispensing some advice on finalists Eva and Juan Manuel ("You don't cook with your hands. Well, yes, you cook with your hands, you cook with your heart, and with your head") it was on to the cooking competition, and, finally, the announcement of the winner.

Spoiler alert, Eater España: Juan Manuel wins. But Eva gets the consolation prize of "a little bit of elBulli, of Ferran Adrià... the DNA of our culinary process." It's a diagram of the elBulli kitchen, and, as Adrià tells her, she's the only person in the world who has one. Below, the video (warning: in Spanish, no subtitles, sorry). Cue the opera and storm of gold confetti:
