Philadelphia-based restaurateur Stephen Starr has partnered with NYC restaurant group Fatty Crew to open eight new restaurants nationwide and one in London. According to Crain's New York Business: "Starr Restaurants will be the operator and will run the day-to-day management. Fatty Crew will collaborate on the dining experience and develop city-specific menus that focus on local and seasonal ingredients." Their first restaurant together will be opening in Washington, DC "in about three to six months."
Fatty Crew operates the Fatty Crab and Fatty 'Cue restaurants in New York City, the US Virgin Islands, and now Hong Kong. The extent to which Fatty Crew chef/partner Zakary Pelaccio will be involved is unclear; Crain's reports he "may consult on new menus." Starr is certainly practiced in opening new restaurants. Within the past few months the Buddakan and Morimoto restaurateur has helped open Serpico (Philadelphia) and HyBird (NYC).
