Dustin Hoffman Joins Cast of Jon Favreau's Chef Movie

Hillary Dixler Canavan is Eater's restaurant editor and the author of the publication's debut book, Eater: 100 Essential Restaurant Recipes From the Authority on Where to Eat and Why It Matters (Abrams, September 2023). Her work focuses on dining trends and the people changing the industry — and scouting the next hot restaurant you need to try on Eater's annual Best New Restaurant list.

Writer/director/actor/producer Jon Favreau just keeps amassing talent to be a part of his upcoming movie Chef. Favreau posted two videos on Vine featuring "new cast member" Dustin Hoffman goofing around with Favreau and previously announced cast member Bobby Cannavale on set. (This is not the Bradley Cooper Chef film; thankfully, they're working on getting that same title dilemma sorted out.)

Hoffman joins a star-studded cast that also includes Sofia Vergara, Scarlett Johansson, John Leguizamo, and Robert Downey, Jr, plus a food truck. Filming is already underway in Los Angeles, and the movie is set to open in theaters on May 9, 2014. Below, Dustin Hoffman, Jon Favreau, and Bobby Cannavale on how to properly say "chef":
