Food Network Now Casting for 'Grocery Games' Show

New, 6 comments

Are you a chef/food professional that happens to purchase food in a grocery setting? If so, the Food Network has announced it's casting for an as-yet-unnamed show with a "supermarket showdown" theme and $20,000 prize. According to the call, the Food Network needs "highly skilled chefs and professional cooks from all backgrounds" for the competition/reality show: "To navigate the aisles of this high-pressure competition, you're going to need clever cooking solutions AND supermarket savvy. From shopping on a budget to substituting out-of-stock ingredients, contestants will have to race against the clock to survive." Sounds kind of like Top Chef, only with more focus on the boring Whole Foods part.

Relativity Media — the same production company behind Restaurant Stakeout and The Great Food Truck Race — produces the show, and interested parties are encouraged to e-mail grocerygames@rrstaff.com. So, Eater's money is on a show ultimately named The Great Grocery Games. You heard it here first.
